Review of Mamaearth Ultra Light Indian Sunscreen SPF 50 PA+++

Review article, Written by: Supriya Mandrupkar

Price & Quantity: Rs. 499 for 80 g product

Shelf life: Best before 24 months(2 years) from the date of manufacturing

What the product claims: Mamaearth Ultra Light Indian Sunscreen with Carrot Seed and Turmeric, SPF 50 PA +++ Protects from UVA & UVB rays, Crafted for Indian skin, Suits all skin types, For sun protection, Paraben and Silicone free, Dermatologically tested, For Indian skin

Directions for use: apply the cream on clean face, neck and other skin areas exposed to sun. Apply every 6 hours for effective protection. Re-apply after every swim or in case of excessive sweating. Can be used under makeup.

Ingredients:  This is a chemical sunscreen with avobenzone as the main sunscreen agent. Chemical sunscreens work by absorbing the harmful UV rays and converting them into heat. So you need to apply them 15-20 minutes before actually stepping out in sun. This sunscreen also contains Titanium dioxide(a safer physical sunscreen agent) which enhances the sun protection and also makes the formulation stable. Along with sunscreen agents, it also contains natural herbal actives like carrot seed oil and turmeric. The product is free from parabens and silicones.

Packaging: The sunscreen comes packed in a tube with flip open cap. The tube is white in color with colorful printing. But its completely opaque, so one can not see the amount of product left inside. The cap shuts perfectly making it travel friendly. Also the size can fit in a handbag easily. The tube is packed inside a carton and all the details are printed on it. The tube is sturdy enough and dispenses the right amount of product. The company claims to be plastic positive i.e. they recycle more plastic than they use.

Fragrance: It has slight herbal kind of fragrance (if you can guess what I mean😆), but it doesn't stay much. Good thing. Also the fragrance they have used is IFRA certified Allergen free. And it actually doesn't irritate my sensitive nose.

Colour, texture & consistency: The sunscreen is off-white in color with smooth texture and medium consistency. It is neither too thick nor runny. It glides easily on the skin and gets absorbed immediately without leaving any greasiness or white cast. The formulation is actually very nice, it gives you 'just enough' moisture with the much needed sun protection.

My take on the product: Using a sunscreen daily is the need of the hour. And finding the one which suits to your liking and serves the purpose is another cumbersome task. In such scenario, this sunscreen with high sun protection SPF 50 and considerable anti-aging benefits with PA+++ surely wins the match. The smooth buttery formulation with enough moisture but without grease or white cast is the cherry on the top. I personally have tried many formulations but this one has become my favorite because I can just cleanse and tone and put this one as my moisturizer and sunscreen. It protects my skin from getting sun burns and age spots. It just vanishes in a breeze that you can start your makeup instantly. It stays for good long 6 hours. What else can you expect? I am giving it a big thumbs up👍

Pros:
1. High sun protection SPF 50 PA +++
2. Suits all skin types (even oily, acne prone/ Sensitive skin)
3. Mildly scented with IFRA certified Allergen free fragrance
4. Paraben and silicone free
5. No greasiness or white cast

Cons:
1. Chemical sunscreens may not suit some very sensitive skins, so patch test before use

Sensible Lily Rating: 4.5/5

Final verdict:

Mamaearth Ultra Light Indian Sunscreen SPF 50 PA+++ is a lightweight, non-greasy formulation which provides sun protection without any white cast. It is specially crafted for Indian skin and suits all skin types. Do give it a try and share your experiences with me in the comments. Lots of love!!
